Tornado Roof Damage in Northwest San Antonio: Free Inspections for Affected Neighborhoods

The EF-1 tornado that touched down the morning of July 15 didn’t hit San Antonio evenly — it carved a specific path across the far Northwest Side. If you live along that corridor, your roof may have taken wind or debris damage even if your street looks untouched. Comanche Roofing is a San Antonio–based, GAF-certified contractor, and we’re offering free storm-damage roof inspections to homeowners in the affected area.

ToggleThe tornado’s path
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado touched down about two miles southwest of the Interstate 10 and Loop 1604 interchange, near Shavano Park, then crossed I-10 between The Dominion and Shavano Park before tracking northeast for roughly four miles and dissipating just north of The Rim. Along the way it damaged the La Cantera and UTSA area, tore the roof off apartment buildings on UTSA Boulevard, and brought down trees and power lines across the North Side.
Neighborhoods and areas in or near the damage path
If you’re in or around any of these areas, a roof inspection is worth it:
- Shavano Park
- The Dominion
- Crown Ridge
- Camp Bullis / Leon Springs area
- The Rim and Shops at La Cantera area
- UTSA / Hausman Road corridor
- Surrounding North and Northwest Side neighborhoods along I-10 and Loop 1604

Wind damage is unpredictable. Homes directly under the path took the worst of it, but 100-mph gusts and flying debris can lift shingles and crack flashing well outside the core track. If you heard the storm hit hard, get checked.
Why a local inspection matters here
Damage in this corridor ranged from obvious — missing shingles, downed limbs on roofs — to nearly invisible from the ground. Our inspectors look for the subtle signs that turn into leaks later: bruised or lifted shingles, granule loss, damaged vents and flashing, and stressed seals. You get a written report, and if you’re filing an insurance claim, documentation you can use.
Because we’re a roofing contractor based right here in San Antonio, we can respond fast — and we’ll be in your area either way. That’s the difference between a local contractor and the out-of-town crews that show up after every storm and are gone by fall.
Same-day and next-day inspections

Our thoughts are with everyone across the region dealing with this week’s storms and flooding. Please stay safe, and don’t take any risks around your home during active weather.
